Weed Control and Fertilization Calendar

To get the most benefits from our weed control and fertilization schedule, we urge you to stick with the program throughout the entire season. We’ll inspect your lawn every time we visit and make adjustments to your program if it’s not doing its job. Additionally, if you are unsatisfied with our program, call us right away at 479.856.9800 so we can make it right for you.

 – January: We  Apply Roundup  to kill fescue and other grassy weeds. This is the best time of year to combat these grasses while the warm season grasses are still dormant. Treatments for these grasses can be costly at any other point of the Spring or Summer.

– February through March: We apply pre-emergent weed control to stop crabgrass and other weedy grasses from sprouting. This is the backbone of our weed control program.

– March through April: We apply spring broadleaf herbicides to stop dandelions and other broadleaf weeds in their tracks. We also start our fertilizer program at this time.

– May through June: Our secret sauce? Fertilizer. Your lawn needs nutrients to grow strong, thick and healthy. When you have a healthy lawn, you have less weeds. We’ll also spray for broadleaf weeds that managed to sneak through.

– June through July: From the beginning of the season through late fall, we’ll apply a total of four pounds of nitrogen per 1,000 sq. ft. of lawn. We’ll apply this special blend of fertilizer throughout the season so your lawn gets an even balance of the right nutrients for optimal growth and health.

– July through August: We continue our fertilization program to keep your lawn nutrient dispersal on schedule.

– September through October: Broadleaf weeds try to make a resurgence in the fall. We go to work by applying broadleaf weed control to stop those weeds in their tracks.

– October through November: We apply pre-emergent weed control again in the late fall to prevent henbit and other winter weeds from taking root on your lawn over the winter.
